After more than a decade I decided to leave the first (and for a long time favorite) social media network I ever joined.

Why leave Twitter?

There’s exactly one single reason to leave Twitter: Mr. Elon Musk. I simply refuse to support a person with a clearly anti-democratic, pro-dictatorship attitude. I refuse to support conspiracy theories and science refusal (weird enough this moron built his wealth on exactly science and engineering - and, of course, the money he had inherited…).

Is this REALLY all so bad?

Yes, it is 😡!

Why?

Basically because Musk uses Twitter/X as a personal platform to fight against all I personally stand for: democracy, social balance, minority protection, liberalism and religious agnosticism. Musk, fully in line with some other (tech) billionaires like e.g. P. Thiel, promotes a world divided into billionaire- (and their slaves) only areas and those for the ordinary people. Simply put these guys want to subdivide the world among themselves, introducing their own rules, denying separation of powers, as well as abolishing constitutional rights. The world and it’s inhabitants should serve only one single purpose: raise the billionaires' personal welfare.

Anyone who thinks this is not going to happen should realize immediately that this development is already underway, well supported by corrupt, nationalist and anti-democratic politicians (Trump, Orban, Le Pen, just to name a few) politicians, describing themselves as being ‘(neo-)conservative’. Honestly, every real conservative in this world should be worried, their values are simply being spumed.

We must be aware that we are, similar to the 1920’as and early 1930’s, on a trip straight into fascism. And Twitter/X more and more becomes (one of) the fascists' main mouthpiece(s).

Instead?

Thus having said, after my decision to leave Twitter/X, I signed up for Bluesky and hope that as many of my followers and friends as possible will follow me. Sure, it still takes quite some time to receive an invitation code - but it pays off.

Within the next weeks I will most probably also sign up for Mastoodon, finally running my own Mastodon server. Quite some work to be accomplished - stay tuned!
